CarePartners Foundation In Transylvania County

null

Transylvania County SealIn Transylvania County, CarePartners Foundation helps raise funds and awareness to support hospice, home care, and adult day services.

Hospice of Transylvania began as a grass roots organization and, through the committed efforts of volunteers, served Transylvania County residents through the 1980’s. In 1990, Home Care of Transylvania Community Hospital transitioned the grass roots program into a Medicare-certified Hospice. Then, as now, Hospice of Transylvania offered a full range of Hospice services in the home and in local facilities: nursing; social work; nursing assistants; chaplain; volunteers; 24-hour call line; and ancillary services. Hospice of Transylvania has continued to grow for over 25 years, maintaining a strong connection with our community and dedicated volunteers.

In addition to volunteering, community members can support CarePartners Foundation in Transylvania County by being part of the annual Hospice Tree of Remembrance.

The Hospice Tree of Remembrance has been a Brevard tradition since 1993, when volunteer Ginny Fisher wanted to find a way to support hospice patients in need.

Each year, hundreds of people from Transylvania County and beyond honor loved ones with a gift to the Tree of Remembrance. The names of those remembered are written on clay doves that hang on a tree in the lobby of Transylvania Regional Hospital.

The Transylvania community has always been a strong supporter of Hospice of Transylvania. Through thousands of volunteer hours and a generous response to fundraising, Hospice has flourished. Volunteer training, for both office and patient/family support, takes place throughout the year. The model of on-line coursework and small group seminars allows volunteers flexibility in arranging training. (For more information, call the Volunteer Coordinator at 828-883-8251.)

The Tree of Remembrance fundraiser takes place every holiday season. Donors send a contribution to Hospice, honoring or remembering a loved one. Every December handcrafted doves, each bearing the name of a loved one, decorate the twelve-foot tree in the lobby of Transylvania Regional Hospital. To be included in our mailing list or to donate to Hospice or the Tree of Remembrance, call 828-883- 5413 or email Hospice at melissa.morris2@msj.org.
